A BRIEF HISTORY
APW's story begins with its founder Alan Martinson. At the age of 23, Alan accepted a job pressure-washing fleet trucks during the weekends. At the time, pressure-washing was a relatively new trade which inspired Alan's curiosity to open a pressure-washer service company of his own, Alan's Pressure Washing. Alan's grandfather proudly offered to extend a loan to purchase his first truck and pressure-washer. With only a 2,000 PSI pressure-washer and a lot of determination, Alan ventured door to door to find customers in need of cleaning services.
Soon after, Alan found that pressure-washing provided a unique set of obstacles. Often he would find himself on a jobsite in need of parts or repairs, resulting in longer job times and unhappy customers. Alan quickly grasped the importance of being prepared for onsite failures, having replacement parts readily available, and the knowledge to complete repairs himself. Shifting his focus to understanding the mechanics, performance, and reliability of pressure-washers allowed Alan to gain better jobsite control, reduce equipment costs, and gain a competitive edge.
In 1993, Alan married his best friend and now business partner, Melissa Martinson. Melissa brought organizational prowess to the business, ensuring its structure, fluidity, and progression. As the demand for pressure-washing services increased and competition grew, Alan's expertise in pressure-washers made a lasting impression on local contractors. Recognizing the value of Alan's knowledge, they expanded their operations to provide repair services, guidance, and quality replacement parts to the local community. This local success fueled their ambition to extend their parts sales nationwide, leading to the establishment of APW Inc.
Alan and Melissa nurtured APW Inc. with the shared goal of simplifying and making pressure-washer parts accessible to people. They understood the complexities involved in finding and purchasing parts for pressure-washers, spanning from small electric machines to commercial hot water units. By 2012, APW embraced the e-commerce trend, offering manuals, exploded diagrams, and installation tips to customers nationwide. Today, our focus remains on providing the simplest online experience, enabling customers to access parts and information for all brands of pressure-washers.
